The Haitian-American R&B star sold more than 160,000 copies over the last week, knocking Katy Perry's Roar down to No 2 in the Official UK Singles Chart.
Jessie J's It's My Party was a new entry at No 3 while OneRepublic's Counting Stars slipped two spots to No 4.
Avicii rounded out the top five with a new entry in the form of his latest single You Make Me - and also occupied the No 6 slot with his previous effort Wake Me Up.
Over in the Official UK Albums Chart there was no change in the top spot, with Arctic Monkeys' AM staying put.
Avicii's True was a new entry at No 2 and Sir Elton John also had a new entry at No 3 with Diving Board.
Manic Street Preachers' Rewind The Film was also new in at No 4 - while London Grammar fell three places to No 5 with If You Wait.
